Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a utility climbing arborist to trim and remove trees to protect health and safety in Walpole, MA. Work is performed on site with a focus on safety and skill using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing methods.

You will climb, prune, and remove trees for major electric utilities, maintain equipment, and collaborate with a crew under a foreperson. Davey offers training, safety programs, and advancement opportunities in a large employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: 3+ years of climbing experience.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates if required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and perform pruning and removal for major electric utility providers.
• Safely operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work with ground crew and foreperson as an active crew member.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees; remove broken limbs from lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Follow industry pruning guidelines and maintain equipment.
• Grow capability to perform tasks with safety and skill.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do

Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems

• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
  • Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
  • Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
  • Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson
