Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Walpole, MA is seeking a utility Climbing Arborist to join our outdoor team. You will climb with DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems, prune and remove trees, and work with a crew to support electric utility clients.

This role emphasizes safety, hands-on training, and driving skills; the office is outdoors and provides industry-leading safety gear and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: 3+ years of climbing experience.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates, if required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Work as part of an active crew with ground crew and foreperson.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

What You’ll Do:

Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems

• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
  • Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
  • Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
  • Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson
