Job summary

Systems Engineering, a client-focused technology firm in Portland, Maine, is seeking a Network Engineer II on a full-time, hybrid basis. You will implement, maintain, and support networking and security solutions for small to mid-sized businesses across northern New England.

You will work with routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and collaboration systems, collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver reliable, secure environments and effective technology proposals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional technology experience, preferably in a managed service environment.
• Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) and/or Fortinet NSE 4/7 certifications are strongly preferred.
• Experience with Fortinet tech (FortiGate/AP/Switch) and Cisco/Meraki products.
• Solid understanding of OSI model and core networking concepts; cybersecurity basics.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, manage, troubleshoot, and support client network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver technology solutions.
• Develop standards, guidelines, and best practices; participate in corrective actions.
• Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation.
• Engage in client needs assessment and present technology proposals.
