Volunteers of America–Greater New York is seeking a part-time Client Care Worker/Resident Assistant for the East Clarke Place Senior Residence in Bronx, NY. The role supports seniors, manages front desk duties, and assists residents with daily activities while maintaining strict confidentiality.

The position requires a polite, efficient demeanor, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and completion of an F-80 certificate within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or high school diploma or GED with relevant experience.
• Polite, pleasant manner; efficient and firm; capable front desk/security operation.
• Able to perform diverse tasks and maintain confidentiality.
• F-80 certificate required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily client activities and monitor rights and adherence to rules.
• Greet visitors and announce arrivals to staff or residents; manage front desk flow.
• Ensure guest sign-in/out procedures are followed and reported as required.
• Respond to emergencies with crisis intervention and de-escalation; file Incident Reports.
• Conduct residence rounds as assigned; coordinate visits from home health aides and nurses.
• Provide summaries of client interactions to the assigned case manager and document training progress.
• Support ESSHI tenants on skill-building per individualized service plans, including computer literacy and safe food handling.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

Position: Client Care Worker/Resident Assistant - Part Time

The Resident Assistant answers telephone calls and takes messages for staff, receives and assists visitors, aids residents, and controls front door access.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's degree or high school diploma or GED with relevant experience.
• Must possess a polite and pleasant manner, be efficient and firm, and have the ability to operate a busy front desk/security operation.

• F-80 certificate required within 90 days of hire.

Client Care Worker/Resident Assistant Principal Responsibilities

• Oversee the client’s daily activities. Monitor and observe the client’s rights and client adherence to program rules and routines.
• Greet all visitors; assist them directly or announce their arrival to staff or residents.
• Ensure that all clients guest sign in and out as required.
• Follow assigned procedures in emergency situations including crisis intervention and de-escalation. Report all client related incidents to the program director and assigned case manager. Complete Incident Reports as outlined by the Program Manual.
• Conduct rounds at residence as assigned.
• Confirm the arrival of scheduled home health aides and visiting nurse. Follow up if the visit is not completed and reschedule.
• Provide summaries of client interactions and assistance to the assigned case manager.
• Facilitate onsite wellness events as assigned by Wellness Coordinator to include completion of group note and sign in sheet.
• Work with assigned ESSHI tenant on skill building identified on individualized service plan such as computer literacy, kitchen and cooking safety, healthy eating and meal preparation. Resident Aide will document training and skills building provided to the tenant and submit summary to assigned case manager.
