Job summary

Block by Block in Baltimore is seeking a Cleaning Ambassador to help keep public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities we serve.

If you’re outgoing and enjoy working outside and meeting new people, this is the job for you. The role involves street-level cleaning, interacting with the public, and reporting tasks in English. Weekend availability is required, with weekly pay and pay advances available.

Responsibilities

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at street level and carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting to provide directions and city information.
• Remove litter from streets, sidewalks, and alleys; remove graffiti and posters from light posts and trash cans.
• Pull weeds at tree wells, cracks in sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Monitor for unwanted behavior or crime and report to Safety Ambassadors; complete daily task reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $16.00 to $16.00 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.


• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.


• Litter removal — While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.


• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.


• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.


• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
