Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a friendly Cleaning Ambassador to maintain clean public spaces in Oklahoma City. You will actively engage with pedestrians, assist with directions, and perform a variety of outdoor cleaning tasks in your assigned zone.

The position offers weekly pay, a pay advance option, PTO, free uniforms, and employee support programs. Candidates should be 18+, able to work outdoors, and speak English for reporting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read, write and speak English for basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high-visibility presence while performing cleaning tasks in the assigned zone.
• Greet pedestrians and provide directions or city information.
• Remove litter and graffiti from streets, sidewalks, and alleys.
• Pull weeds at tree wells, sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash cans and boxes.
• Report safety concerns and complete basic daily task reports in English.

• Weekend availability REQUIRED

What You'll Be Doing :

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

Requirements:

• Experience preferred, but not required. We will train.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
