Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction under the supervision of a licensed teacher. The role involves supervision during lunch, classroom assistance, and materials prep.

Qualifying candidates must hold a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or have 60 college credits with eligibility, plus solid English grammar and math basics and strong communication with students and staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or be eligible via 60 college credits and successful completion of a paraprofessional exam.
• Good knowledge of proper English grammar and spelling; basic math skills.
• Ability to work with and for school-aged children and communicate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of students during lunch and playground activities.
• Support classroom instruction and help with assignments under the teacher's guidance.
• Prepare bulletin boards and display student work; operate AV equipment as needed.
• Assist in collecting and grading homework and exams under teacher supervision.
• Help with student attendance reporting and contacting parents about absences.
• Greet visitors and help direct them to appropriate areas of the school.
• Assist in occasional bus loading/unloading duties and book processing.
• Provide tutoring services under classroom supervision and maintain classroom order.
