Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high schools. The role emphasizes instructional assistance, material preparation, and collaborative planning with licensed staff to reinforce skill development.

The IA will work Monday through Friday at a school site, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed, supporting diverse learners and maintaining FERPA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six semester hours of coursework in childhood education (TITLE I schools).
• Two years of work experience in a childhood setting (TITLE I).
• Crises Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support and assists teachers with classroom activities.
• Assists in planning and organizing, evaluating activities, and preparing materials.
• Supports individual students or groups as directed by teachers.
• Participates in staff development and professional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality under FERPA and related laws.
• Ensures safety and well-being of students at all times.
• May conduct vision and hearing screenings and record results.
