Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support licensed teachers in delivering instructional activities and managing classroom operations. This role collaborates closely with teachers to reinforce skills and adapt strategies to individual student needs.

The IA will help plan, organize, and prepare materials, assist in implementing behavioral interventions, and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six semester hours of coursework in childhood education for TITLE I schools or two years of work experience in a childhood setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to teachers in classroom activities and in planning.
• Assists with materials preparation and ensures resources are available per lesson plans.
• Demonstrates professional skills to support school programs.
• Works with individual students or small groups across classrooms as directed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive, calm demeanor with students at all times.
• May conduct vision/hearing screenings and enter results into the EASi system as trained.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
