Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The IA assists in instructional activities, collaborates with teachers, and reinforces skills to help diverse learners succeed.

The role operates on a Monday–Friday schedule in a classroom environment, with occasional evenings. Requires a high school diploma or GED; ESSA Title I requirements may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six semester hours in childhood education (Title I school).
• Two years of work experience in a childhood setting.
• CPI certification training may be provided.
• CPR and First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
• Prepare materials and ensure resources match lesson plans.
• Demonstrate professional skills to support the school program.
• Work with individual students or groups as needed.
• Participate in district staff development and growth.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and related laws.
• Screen vision/hearing if needed and record results in EASi.
