Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The IA will assist with instructional activities and provide general classroom support.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and meet ESSA requirements for Title I schools. The role may include planning with teachers, maintaining materials, and safeguarding student confidentiality while collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Title I schools: meet ESSA requirements.
• Six documented semester hours in childhood education, OR two years of work experience in a childhood setting.
• CPI certification may be required depending on school and student population.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with instructional activities and creating a caring, safe environment for all students.
• Aids planning, organizing, evaluating activities, and prepares materials per lesson plan.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support the school program.
• Works with individual students or groups in different classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and exercises good judgment around students.
• May conduct vision/hearing screenings and enter results in EASi system.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
