Job summary

York County Community Action Corp. seeks qualified Classroom Substitutes to support Head Start classrooms on an as-needed basis. You will help deliver engaging activities, supervise children, and maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment.

Ideal candidates hold a CDA and have experience in early childhood settings; reliable transportation and ability to lift up to 30 lbs are required. This role offers flexible shifts across York County with a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Required: Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a center-based early childhood setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom staff in delivering engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
• Actively supervise and interact with children to ensure safety and well-being
• Follow lesson plans, classroom routines, and behavior guidance strategies
• Assist with meals, family-style dining, and daily care routines
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching teams and center staff
• Support children with special needs by following IFSPs/IEPs (when applicable)

Classroom Substitute (Qualified Teacher)

York County Community Action Corp. (YCCAC) is seeking Qualified Classroom Substitutes to support our Head Start classrooms on an as-needed basis. This role is ideal for early childhood professionals who enjoy flexibility, value teamwork, and are passionate about supporting young children and families. As a Classroom Substitute, you'll step in to ensure continuity of care, maintain safe and nurturing environments, and help children thrive during their school day.
