Job summary

York County Community Action Corp. seeks Qualified Classroom Substitutes to support Head Start classrooms on an as-needed basis.

The role is ideal for early childhood professionals who value teamwork, flexible scheduling, and a passion for supporting young children and families during the school day. You will help deliver engaging activities, supervise children, follow lesson plans, assist with meals, and maintain a clean, safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Requires Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA.
• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a center-based early childhood setting.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom staff in delivering engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
• Actively supervise and interact with children to ensure safety and well-being.
• Follow lesson plans, classroom routines, and behavior guidance strategies.
• Assist with meals, family-style dining, and daily care routines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming classroom environment.
• Collaborate with teaching teams and center staff.
• Support children with special needs by following IFSPs/IEPs (when applicable).

Classroom Substitute (Qualified Teacher)

Location: York County | AS-Needed | Monday–Friday

York County Community Action Corp. (YCCAC) is seeking Qualified Classroom Substitutes to support our Head Start classrooms on an as‑needed basis. This role is ideal for early childhood professionals who enjoy flexibility, value teamwork, and are passionate about supporting young children and families. As a Classroom Substitute, you’ll step in to ensure continuity of care, maintain safe and nurturing environments, and help children thrive during their school day.

Your Role

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, stand, and move throughout the day


• Must pass background checks, physical exam, and meet Head Start requirements
