Job summary

Child Development Resources (CDR) in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Substitute Teacher for our Early Head Start infants and toddlers (6 weeks to 3 years). This flexible, part-time position supports our team by providing staffing and caring for young children in a nurturing environment.

You will help with developmentally appropriate activities, partner with families, and participate in safeguarding routines, nutrition, safety, and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with infants and young toddlers in group care.
  • Experience providing safe, healthy, responsive caregiving and developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Flexibility to work on an as‑needed basis.
  • Knowledge of child safety, nutrition, and inclusive early learning practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine love for working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide staffing support, as needed, at our Early Head Start center.

  • Foster growth in key developmental areas, including social, emotional, nutritional, and physical development.
  • Support classroom routines and learning activities that encourage exploration and growth.

  • Play a key role in our federally funded Early Head Start (EHS) program, supporting qualifying families with vital early learning services.

As a Substitute Teacher working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, you will:

What You Bring
Required Qualifications

Bonus Points For
  • Experience working in Early Head Start, Head Start, or licensed child‑care programs.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Medication Administration Training (MAT).
  • Experience supporting children of all abilities and diverse family backgrounds.
