Job summary

St. Clair County School System seeks a Teacher to provide an educational environment that helps students succeed academically in alignment with system philosophy, goals and objectives.

The position supports the principal with instructional leadership, curriculum implementation, and collaboration with coordinators, counselors, and administration to ensure high-quality instruction and student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
• Knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom practices, and professional development.
• Good public relations skills.
• Ability to understand the unique needs and learning characteristics of students.
• Suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Knowledge and ability to use education technology and assist in instructional practices.
• Leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to be an instructional leader across settings.
• Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
• Proficiency in oral, written, and electronic communications and ability to present to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system, its vision, goals, and priorities.
• Demonstrates ability to multi-task, delegate, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Maintains confidentiality of Board of Education business, staff, and students.
• Knowledge of principles and practice of effective instruction.
• Demonstrate and model regular and predictable attendance.
• Demonstrate professionalism in appearance and attitude; use technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, records, and scheduling.
• Implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of all students.
• Collaborate with coordinators, administrators, and counselors on matters related to 504, PST, RTI, ARI, curriculum, observations, textbooks, and related items.
• Collaborate on maintenance concerns, student discipline, virtual school, attendance, and related matters.
• Collaborate on special education, IEPs, BIPs, FBAs, gifted education, and accommodations.
