Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a per diem Classroom Assistant to support the Special Education Teacher in implementing academic and social-emotional programs for assigned students in a school setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEP-aligned activities, data collection on social-emotional functioning, supporting classroom curricula, preparing reports, and participating in meetings. Must be able to assist with activities of daily living and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree preferred with a major in education or related human service fields.
• Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel.
• Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the formulation of social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
• Implements social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs; supports academic activities as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Prepares and submits required paperwork for student records and attends meetings related to students’ progress.
• Maintains a safe environment and participates in supervision and staff meetings as assigned.
