Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Classroom Behavior Specialist to assist the special education teacher in delivering academic, behavioral and social-emotional programming for students.

The role involves one-on-one and small-group work, implementing IEP-aligned plans, and collaborating with the classroom team, with hours 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position requires patience, strong communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus Parapro Assessment or 60+ college credits.
• Associate's Degree or higher preferred (Special Education, Psychology or related field).
• Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is a plus.
• Strong communication, patience, problem-solving and teamwork skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Work 1:1 with students or in small groups to assess behavioral and social-emotional needs.
• Identify factors that impede academic progress to help students succeed.
• Stay current on behavior plans for each student.
• Implement social-emotional and behavioral programming aligned with IEPs with the classroom team.
• Assist in completing progress reports and report cards for behavioral and social-emotional goals.
• Attend meetings and conferences as assigned.
