Job summary

Brown University Health in Cumberland, RI is seeking an assistant to support the Special Education Teacher by implementing effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students.

This role collaborates with the classroom team, assists with daily living activities, collects data on behavior and progress, prepares verbal and written reports, and participates in meetings while following Bradley Hospital policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred in education or related human service fields.
• Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel; Excel training available if needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in formulating social-emotional and behavioral programming aligned with students' IEPs.
• Implement social-emotional and behavioral programming as directed by the classroom team.
• Assist students with activities of daily living such as toileting and self-care.
• Collect and manage data on social-emotional and behavioral functioning.
• Prepare and present verbal or written reports on social-emotional and behavioral functioning.
• Provide academic support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Prepare and submit required paperwork for the student record.
• Attend classroom team meetings and other student-related meetings.
• Observe policies and regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
