Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Class A Driver for the San Jose ARC to transport donations and manage daily routes. The role requires a valid Class A license, clean driving record and strong time management.

You will ensure safe loading/unloading, follow DOT rules, and provide excellent customer service as a representative of The Salvation Army. Benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision, retirement plan, employee discounts, and EAP.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CLASS A driver's License.
• Clean Driving Record.
• Strong time management and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily routing directions and stay on route unless directed by supervisor.
• Complete routes within the approved work schedule; 100% completion daily.
• Safely load and unload the truck and assist others as needed.
• Handle donated materials with proper safety procedures and PPE.
• Supervise and train truck helper in daily tasks and safety rules.
• Record and report pre- and post-trip checks and any exceptions to the supervisor.
• Communicate courteously with customers and report issues to dispatch.
• Adhere to DOT regulations and state/local laws; attend driver safety meetings.
• Report safety procedure infractions to the supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
