Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Water Truck Driver to operate a water truck on project sites, ensuring safety and compliance with DOT regulations. The role requires a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, a current medical card, and construction experience.

You will perform pre/post-trip inspections, fuel and grease the truck, and support crews with water handling. Strong communication and multitasking are essential on a rigorous construction schedule.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
• Current Medical Card is required.
• Minimum 2 years of construction experience.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a water truck safely on project sites.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations.
• Fuel and grease truck daily.
• Fill, haul, and spray water on project sites.
• Spray water by hand with a hose.
• Assist crews and perform other duties as assigned.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a water truck safely on and off the project sites
• Pre and Post Trip inspection of the truck in compliance with DOT regulations
• Fuel and grease truck daily
• Perform tasks involving filling, hauling, and spraying water on a project jobsite
• Spraying water by hand with a hose
• Other duties as assigned including helping crews

Qualifications

• Class A CDL License
• Current Medical Card
• Tanker endorsement required
• 2+ year’s construction experience
• Knowledgeable of DOT regulations
• Willingness to learn and accept direction from supervisors
• Communication and interpersonal skills are a must
• Ability to manage time, multitask, and prioritize

Working Conditions

• Travel – The position is located in either Clyde, NC area or the Charlotte, NC area, with the potential of other locations throughout the Eastern Region.
• Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects.
