Job summary

Ames Construction in North Carolina is seeking a Water Truck Driver to safely operate a water truck on project sites, conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, and support field crews on active construction sites across the Eastern Region.

This role requires a Class A CDL, a current Medical Card, and an OSHA/DOT‑compliant mindset. You’ll work in Shelby or Charlotte area projects, traveling as needed, with a focus on safety and reliable, on‑time performance.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class A CDL license.
• Current Medical Card.
• Air Brake endorsement required.
• Minimum 2 years of construction experience.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Willingness to learn and follow supervisor direction.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time, multitask, and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a water truck safely on and off project sites.
• Pre and Post Trip inspection of the truck in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Fuel and grease truck daily.
• Perform tasks involving filling, hauling, and spraying water on a project jobsite.
• Spraying water by hand with a hose.
• Other duties as assigned including helping crews.

Working Conditions

• Travel – The position is located in either Shelby NC area or the Charlotte, NC area, with the potential of other locations throughout the Eastern Region.
• Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects.
