Job summary

Ames Construction in North Carolina is seeking a Water Truck Operator to support our heavy civil projects in the Shelby and Charlotte areas. You will drive and operate a water truck safely on site, perform pre/post trip inspections, and support water needs across job sites.

Required qualifications include a Class A CDL, a current Medical Card, Air Brake endorsement, and at least 2 years of construction experience with knowledge of DOT regulations.

• Current Medical Card required and knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Minimum 2 years of construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a water truck safely on project sites.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations.
• Fuel and grease the truck daily and manage water distribution.
• Assist crews with water application and site tasks as needed.
• Travel to locations in the Eastern Region as required.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a water truck safely on and off the project sites
• Pre and Post Trip inspection of the truck in compliance with DOT regulations
• Fuel and grease truck daily
• Perform tasks involving filling, hauling, and spraying water on a project jobsite
• Spraying water by hand with a hose
• Other duties as assigned including helping crews

Qualifications

• Class A CDL License
• Current Medical Card
• Air Brake endorsement required
• 2+ year’s construction experience
• Knowledgeable of DOT regulations
• Willingness to learn and accept direction from supervisors
• Communication and interpersonal skills are a must
• Ability to manage time, multitask, and prioritize

Working Conditions

• Travel – The position is located in either Shelby NC area or the Charlotte, NC area, with the potential of other locations throughout the Eastern Region.
• Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects.
