Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a dedicated water truck operator to support our heavy civil projects in Clyde, NC and the Charlotte area. You will drive a water truck, perform inspections, and assist crews on active sites, ensuring DOT compliance and safety at all times.

The role is union; candidates must hold a Class A CDL, tanker endorsement, and a current medical card, with at least two years of construction experience. Gene ral travel within the Eastern Region may be required.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL is required.
• Current Medical Card is required.
• Tanker endorsement required.
• 2+ years construction experience.
• Knowledgeable of DOT regulations.
• Willingness to learn and accept direction from supervisors.
• Communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
• Ability to manage time, multitask, and prioritize.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and maintain a clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a water truck safely on and off the project sites.
• Pre and Post Trip inspection of the truck in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Fuel and grease truck daily.
• Perform tasks involving filling, hauling, and spraying water on a project jobsite.
• Spraying water by hand with a hose.
• Other duties as assigned including helping crews.

Working Conditions

Travel - The position is located in either Clyde, NC area or the Charlotte, NC area, with the potential of other locations throughout the Eastern Region.

Construction Site Environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects.
