Job summary

Russel Metals Williams Bahcall Inc is seeking an experienced Class A CDL truck driver to safely operate Conestoga flatbeds across routes in the Milwaukee area, delivering freight on time and in compliance with safety and DOT regulations. Flatbed experience is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.

Responsibilities include load and unload, tarp when required, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining accurate logs, and clear communication with dispatchers and clients.

Job Overview

The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers across various routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight, and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a strong work ethic. Candidates should possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Flatbed experience is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.

Duties

• Operate and haul a Conestoga flatbed.
• Tarp loads are required at customer request or in applicable weather conditions.
• Load and unload freight efficiently and safely at various locations, adhering to safety protocols.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and freight delivery records.
• Follow all DOT regulations.
• Follow route schedules precisely to ensure on-time deliveries while maintaining safety standards.
• Handle special equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading cargo.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes.
• Adhere to all federal, state, and company safety policies during operations.

Experience

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record.
• Proven experience in truck driving, including route driving and freight delivery.
• Familiarity with transporting flatbeds is a plus.
• Prior experience in load & unload operations and using forklifts is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to manage long hours on the road while maintaining safety and professionalism.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards related to commercial driving is required.
