Job summary

Samuel Packaging Systems Group in Alpharetta, GA seeks a safety-conscious CDL Class A driver to transport steel materials. You will operate a flatbed truck, secure loads, follow schedules, and communicate with dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries.

The role requires a valid CDL, 2 years tractor-trailer experience preferred, and knowledge of DOT regulations. Training is provided for ideal candidates; MVR must meet company standards; PPE and safety are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • A valid Class A CDL with appropriate weight classification.
  • 2 years of verifiable Tractor Trailer experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate a Class A CDL flatbed truck to transport steel materials.
  • Secure steel products using strapping, chains, and other securement methods to prevent damage during transit.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving on public roads.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring that mechanical and safety components are in proper working order.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Assist with loading and unloading material using forklifts, cranes, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delays.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address concerns.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and PPE usage, including handling of hazardous materials if applicable.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely and efficiently operate a Class A CDL flatbed truck to transport steel materials.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • A valid CDL with appropriate weight classification.
  • 2 years of verifiable Tractor Trailer Experience preferred.
  • 1 year flatbed and steel experience preferred. (Training will be provided to ideal candidates)
  • Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude.
  • Acceptable MVR Report Abstracts. No more than 2 moving violations within the past 36 months.
  • Steel, Heavy Haul, and Oversized Freight experience a highlighted asset
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and State D.O.T.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Load Securement (strapping, chaining, tarping).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, stooping, and climbing in and out of the truck.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and dust.
