Job summary

Erie Insurance seeks an experienced Claims Manager for the Peoria, Illinois Branch Office. The role leads a Zone Operations Team, supervising claims adjusters and staff, with regular Office hours Monday–Friday. Travel to support catastrophe operations may be required.

Essential functions include hiring, training, reviewing claims for coverage and reserves, and coordinating with leadership on procedures. A driver’s license and state licensing as needed are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six years of claims related experience required; or an Associate degree and four years of claims related experience; or a Bachelor's degree and two years of claims related experience.
• Experience using estimating software is preferred.
• Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) designation preferred.
• Appropriate licenses as required by applicable state(s), including the ability to secure and maintain multiple licenses as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of designated area of authority and supervise staff.
• Hire, train, and evaluate personnel; manage performance assessments.
• Review claims files for coverage and reserves and provide guidance as needed.
• Resolve unusual coverage questions and conduct necessary research.
• Maintain knowledge of adjusters’ files and applicable laws.
• Participate with the Claims Manager on procedures development and approval.
• Handle claim complaints and inquiries and coordinate with outside counsel as required.
• Assist the Claim Manager and may act on their behalf when needed.
• Attend pre-trial functions and trials as necessary.
