Job summary

Sedgwick in San Diego, CA is offering an entry-level Claims Representative training program focused on workers' compensation. You will begin with a 4-week concept-based course, followed by onboarding and mentoring as you handle claims under supervision.

The role develops professional skills in investigation, communication with injured workers, employers, and providers, and adherence to jurisdictional guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred and 2 years of customer service experience and/or combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Attendance and completion of designated claims professional training program.
• Adjusting various levels of workers’ compensation claims under close supervision, including processing and responding to mail, emails and other claim related documents.
• Communicating effectively with injured workers, insureds/employers, medical providers, attorneys and carrier representatives, primarily via phone, video conference and email.
• Thoroughly investigating new and existing claims by gathering medical records, employer reports, and witness statements.
• Determining coverage, compensability and benefits in accordance with jurisdictional guidelines and carrier requirements.
• Documenting claims files and coding claim activity; preparing detailed reports.
• Administering indemnity and medical benefits with calendared action items and state compliance.
• Participating in meetings, claim reviews and training sessions.
