Job summary

Alliant Engineering, Inc. invites an undergraduate Civil Engineering student to join our Transportation Engineering Internship in Minneapolis, MN.

You’ll work closely with seasoned engineers on real-world projects across highway design, MOT, and roadway safety, while gaining exposure to state, county, and municipal programs. You will perform design calculations, prepare reports and drawings, and coordinate with other disciplines.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field)
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong technical and problem solving skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
• Exposure to or interest in learning engineering design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Assist with preliminary and final design of projects
• Perform design computations and analyses
• Assist with preparation of engineering reports and supporting documents
• Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates
• Coordinate design decisions with other engineering disciplines
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective and compliant manner
• Perform other related duties as assigned
