Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks a licensed land surveyor to perform field surveys, establish control, and collect data for boundary and site plans. The role is based in Raeford, NC, with responsibility for accurate measurements and coordination with engineers and clients.

Responsibilities include researching records, processing measurements, drafting site maps, and ensuring equipment accuracy. Requires an Associate’s degree, 3+ years in the field, and ability to handle physical work in

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying and at least 3 years of field surveying experience.
• Must be licensed in the state.
• Knowledge of surveying instruments such as transits, laser rangefinders and GPS.
• Able to read maps and technical documents.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various environments.

Responsibilities

• Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
• Develop new data from photogrammetric records.
• Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
• Record the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimensions of site.
• Maintain accuracy of surveying equipment.
• Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries using transits, levels and GPS systems.
• Write description of site and assist with drafting of site map.
• Coordinate findings of survey with engineering, architectural personnel and the client.
• Other duties as assigned.
