Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks a Surveyor to make precise measurements and provide data on land features, elevations and boundaries across the United States. You will research records, establish survey control, and record site dimensions while coordinating with engineers and clients.

A valid state license and an Associate degree are required, with 3+ years field experience. Expect to use transits, GPS and laser rangefinders; be prepared for varied environments and 40+ hour weeks.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Must be licensed in the state.
• Must operate transits, laser rangefinders and GPS equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
• 40+ hours per week with possible weekend work.
• Background check and Chemical Screen based on job location/requirements.

Responsibilities

• Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
• Develop new data from photogrammetric records.
• Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
• Record the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimensions of site.
• Maintain accuracy of surveying equipment.
• Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries using transits, levels and GPS systems.
• Write description of site and assist with drafting of site map.
• Coordinate findings of survey with engineering, architectural personnel and the client.
• Other duties as assigned.
