Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors in Decatur, AL is seeking a civil/structural engineer to perform complete designs of diverse projects under supervision. You will develop layouts, codes-compliant calculations, and construction drawings while leading small teams and coordinating with multiple disciplines.

The ideal candidate holds a BS/MS in Civil Engineering with a PE preferred, and has 3+ years of relevant experience. Knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation and analysis software is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer registration highly preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant industrial civil/structural engineering experience.
• Knowledge of IBC and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI).
• Experience with civil/structural analysis software.
• Ability to lead small to medium teams to meet scope, schedule and budget.
• Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Microstation).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Virtual team collaboration across divisions.

Responsibilities

• Follow department design and drafting standards.
• Coordinate project scope, specifications and design criteria.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies.
• Produce preliminary designs and material take-offs.
• Create detailed design calculations and construction drawings.
• Ensure calculations are accurate and code compliant.
• Assist drafting with layout and detailing solutions.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure information flow.
• Advise senior engineers on design or scope changes.
• Support procurement through package assembly and vendor drawings review.
• Provide field data collection and construction support.
• Mentor less experienced staff and lead small teams.
