Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support FAA's Engineering Services Infrastructure team from Des Plaines, IL. The role focuses on planning, design, and project management for facility modernization projects, including environmental equipment installations, roofing, and new construction coordination.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil or Structural Engineering degree.
• ≥3 years foundation design experience for industrial, commercial, or government facilities.
• Current knowledge of building structural codes for design calculations.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and scheduling tools.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligibility for FAA Public Trust (US citizen or Green Card holder).
• Able to pass a drug test prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site surveys to develop to-scale designs and detailed reports.
• Create sketches with exact specs and dimensions for installations.
• Participate in construction and final inspections.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for site-specific modifications and new construction.
• Prepare AutoCAD/MicroStation drawings and site specifications and cost estimates.
• Manage project tasks and safety plans, schedules, and risk assessments.
• Develop Integrated Risk Management Checklists and ORM documentation.
• Coordinate work permits for potential lead/asbestos concerns.
