Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Manager/Senior Project Manager to join our Structure & Bridge Design Group in Richmond, VA. This role leads structural design efforts, manages clients, and drives project planning and budgets.

Ideal candidates hold a Structural Engineering degree with 8–15 years of design experience, a VA PE (or eligible via comity), and strong communication. Proficiency in major design software is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 8-15 years of structural design experience.
• Current Virginia PE or able to obtain via comity on hire.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and VDOT standards.
• Proficiency in major structural design software (MDX, Virtis, Merlin-Dash, Descus, Bar7, STAAD).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design efforts for the Structural Engineering team.
• Coordinate client management and business development.
• Develop work plans, schedules, estimates, and budgets.
• Supervise and review work of engineers; mentor junior staff.
• Perform complex bridge design and load ratings as needed.
• Support marketing efforts and proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design efforts for the Structural Engineering team
• Client management and development
• Develop work plans, schedules, estimates and budgets
• Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of engineers
• Mentor junior engineers
• Perform complex bridge design for new and rehabilitation projects
• Bridge design and load ratings experience is a plus
• Assist with the development and implementation of marketing plans

Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
• 8-15 years of structural design experience
• Current Virginia PE (or the ability to obtain the license through comity upon hiring).
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and VDOT standards
• Proficiency in structural design software packages such as MDX, Virtis, Merlin-Dash, Descus, Bar7, STAAD, etc.

Compensation:

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $90,000-$160,000. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity. Information on our comprehensive benefits package be found here.
