Job summary

Exxon Mobil Corporation is seeking an attorney with strong civil litigation experience to manage a diverse docket from its Spring Campus. The role emphasizes independent work and collaboration with internal teams and outside counsel.

The successful candidate will handle complex matters, advise on case strategy, and ensure alignment with business objectives while traveling domestically as needed.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• License to practice law in at least one state; Texas bar membership preferred.
• Experience with trials and managing significant litigation matters.
• Litigation experience in a law firm, corporation, or agency, including significant and complex matters.
• Knowledge of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence.
• Strong research and analytical skills with sound business judgment to work independently and in a legal team.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel domestically as needed.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse, global law department.
• Reputation for high ethical standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and counsel on current or potential litigation matters for Exxon Mobil Corporation and company affiliates.
• Actively manage a docket of civil litigation, including case strategy, legal analysis, witness prep, depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Provide legal counsel on indemnity and insured issues, incident investigations, and risk management.
• Collaborate with outside counsel to ensure proper handling of matters and financial stewardship.
• Directly handle a significant case load (volume and complexity).
• Review and shape documents and pleadings related to the above matters.
• Ensure alignment between litigation objectives and business line goals.
• Communicate with business clients and law management regarding strategy and milestones.
• Coordinate with other lawyers and with business lawyers on litigation matters.
• Partner with legal operations and paralegals to manage discovery.
