Job summary

Herzog Energy, Inc. seeks a Civil Estimator in the United States to prepare accurate cost estimates, scopes, and proposals for utility-scale solar and BESS projects. You willsupport competitive bids and negotiated work while collaborating with estimators, PMs, and construction personnel.

The role requires analyzing plans, performing quantity takeoffs, developing cost breakdowns, and supporting value engineering. Travel ~30% and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years estimating or equivalent construction experience preferred.
• Experience estimating civil scopes for utility-scale solar, renewable energy, heavy civil, or site development projects preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, or similar estimating software is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Communicate professionally to all parties both orally and in writing.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Must work well in a team environment.
• Approximately 30% travel required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment and collaborate with other estimators, project managers, and construction personnel.
• Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather project-specific information.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates for solar civil construction activities.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for civil components including grading, excavation, drainage systems, access roads, foundations, underground utilities, and site improvements.
• Develop cost breakdowns and pricing models using historical data, supplier quotes, subcontractor proposals, and production rates.
• Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews during the estimating and preconstruction process.
• Assist with estimate reviews, bid preparation, and project handoff activities.
• Estimate close-out
• Approximately 30% travel required.
