Job summary

Qcells USA Corp. is seeking a Senior HV/BESS Estimator to join our remote estimating team in Houston, TX.

You will lead cost estimates for HV substations and BESS projects within utility-scale solar EPC, coordinating with project managers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver competitive bids. The role requires 5+ years of estimating experience in solar/HV/BESS, strong leadership and negotiation skills, and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or relevant certificate required; no degree accepted if relevant experience exceeds 3 years.
• 5+ years of estimating and project management experience, with at least 3 years in utility-scale solar, HV, and BESS projects.
• Background in commercial construction, electrical equipment supply, and/or power plant engineering.
• Strong understanding of utility solar and battery storage installation and best practices.
• Willingness to travel domestically and up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for utility-scale solar projects related to HV substations and BESS, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine scope and requirements.
• Use historical data, benchmarks, and market trends to ensure realistic and competitive estimates.
• Review and validate subcontractor bids and quotations.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop resource plans and optimize labor, equipment, and material utilization.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies and contingencies.
• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals in response to RFPs/ITBs and coordinate with BD and sales for pricing strategies.
• Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
• Conduct quality assurance to ensure estimates meet company standards and industry best practices.
• Travel up to 25% as needed.
