Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer II to join our Fortune 500 client on a 12-month contract in Jackson, MI. The role starts with an onsite onboarding period and then moves to a primarily remote schedule with about 10% local travel.

You will develop SPCC plans, analyze site drawings, perform stormwater calculations, and prepare reports while collaborating with construction, operations, and environmental teams to mitigate environmental risks and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Active State of Michigan PE license required for SPCC plan certification and updates.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Experience with environmental compliance and infrastructure design.
Strong knowledge of EPA regulations and Michigan environmental laws.
Experience with spill modeling tools MOSES.
Ability to interpret technical documents and produce drawings.
Effective communicator across multidisciplinary teams and agencies.
Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Develop, update, and maintain SPCC plans for substations.
Analyze site drawings, aerial imagery, and survey data for SPCC.
Design calculations for stormwater management and oil containment.
Create and revise facility diagrams using CAD.
Conduct field investigations to verify SPCC compliance.
Maintain records and technical reports of SPCC activities.
Collaborate across construction, operations, and environmental teams.
Liaise with environmental agencies and respond to inquiries.
Educate teams on spill prevention and regulatory obligations.
Coordinate across business units with federal/state policies.

Responsibilities
