Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) is seeking a Civil Engineering Team Lead to drive design and execution of commercial, industrial, energy, utility, and community projects across the Midwest.

You will lead a talented team of engineers, guiding concept to completion with a strong focus on quality and efficiency. You will play a hands-on role in the design process while leading project teams—delegating work, providing technical guidance, and ensuring high-quality results across projects and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license in OH, MI, PA or IN required.
• 8+ years civil eng. experience with leadership.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D required.
• Experience with stormwater reports/designs.
• Ability to guide junior staff and engage stakeholders.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of civil engineers and designers on project execution.
• Coordinate with Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation and Environmental teams.
• Review construction documents, plan sets, specs, and bid packages.
• Manage site civil design for private development projects (layout, grading, utilities).
• Oversee feasibility studies, due diligence, zoning analyses, stormwater modeling and design.
• Perform design calculations ensuring accuracy and code compliance.
• Lead client and agency communications to resolve comments and obtain approvals.
• Foster quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
