Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) in Columbus, OH is seeking a Civil Design Group Manager to lead multiple design teams across civil projects. You will develop staffing plans, distribute work, and monitor project health (scope, schedule, budget).

The role emphasizes mentorship, staff development, proposal and contract support, and collaboration with MSG's surveying, environmental, geotechnical, and transportation teams. P.E. license encouraged; flexible schedule and strong benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Have record of managing multiple civil design engineers or teams, projects and disciplines.
• Have a proven management process/style.
• Be willing to mentor and teach younger staff.
• P.E license highly encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple design teams in daily operations.
• Develop staffing needs, distribute work to teams to level workload.
• Work with team leaders/project managers to monitor overall health of projects (scope, schedule, budget, etc.).
• Monitor group workload, utilization, billable hours.
• Work with Civil Service Line leaders to identify additional staffing needs (i.e. training, personnel).
• Mentor staff while executing office and company growth plan.
• Proposal / contract preparation and project management.
• Successfully manage and deliver work tasks on time.
• Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of professional services such as Surveying, Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Landscape Architecture, Funding Strategies/Grant Writing, and Construction Administration.
