Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license in OH, MI, PA or IN required.
• 8+ years civil eng. experience with leadership.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D required.
• Experience with stormwater reports/designs.
• Ability to guide junior staff and engage stakeholders.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of civil engineers and designers on project execution.
• Coordinate with Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation and Environmental teams.
• Review construction documents, plan sets, specs, and bid packages.
• Manage site civil design for private development projects (layout, grading, utilities).
• Oversee feasibility studies, due diligence, zoning analyses, stormwater modeling and design.
• Perform design calculations ensuring accuracy and code compliance.
• Lead client and agency communications to resolve comments and obtain approvals.
• Foster quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

We're looking for a Civil Engineering Team Lead who is passionate about delivering quality engineering solutions and tackling complex technical challenges. In this role, you'll lead the design and execution of commercial, industrial, energy, utility, and community projects throughout the Midwest, working alongside a talented team of engineers to bring projects from concept to completion.

We're seeking someone with strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. You'll play a hand-on role in the design process while also leading project teams-delegating work, providing technical guidance, and helping engineers successfully deliver high-quality results. From developing innovative solutions to overseeing project execution, you'll help ensure projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and with excellence at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of civil engineers and designers, overseeing day-to-day project execution and team performance.
• Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams across multiple disciplines including Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, and Environmental Engineering.
• Oversee and review the development of construction documents, including plan sets, specifications, and bid packages.
• Manage complete site civil design for private development projects, including site layout, grading, utility and SWPP plans.
• Oversee preparation of feasibility studies, due diligence reports, zoning analyses, stormwater modeling and design, cost estimates, and detailed engineering plans.
• Perform and review design calculations, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Lead communication with clients and reviewing agencies to resolve comments and ensure smooth project approvals.
• Foster a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• PE license in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania or Indiana required
• 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, including experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D required.
• Proven experience in independent preparation of stormwater management reports and designs.
• Solid understanding of design and plan preparation for site development projects.
• Experience with roadway design and survey coordination is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to guide junior staff and engage effectively with stakeholders.
