VHB’s Hauppauge, NY office is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the team for Summer 2027. Interns will work on civil engineering projects and will learn technical skills and computational software.

The internship involves collaborating with staff and municipalities, performing engineering calculations, using AutoCAD to prepare designs, and assisting with contract documents and estimates. Candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate Civil Engineering degree and be able to work

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Hauppauge, NY office is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the team. Interns will work on civil engineering projects and will learn technical skills and computational software.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, municipalities and other consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
• Engineering calculations
• Using AutoCAD to prepare preliminary and final design plans
• Contract documents including specifications
• Engineer's estimates

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients
• Self‑motivated with attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
• Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
• Strong interest in civil engineering

The hourly pay range for this position, located in New York, is $19 to $30. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job‑related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.
