Job summary

VHB’s Tampa, FL office is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will assist in calculations, analyses, and report preparation while supporting bridge scoping studies and construction plans.

The role offers exposure to multiple engineering disciplines within a collaborative team and the chance to contribute to meaningful community projects in a hybrid environment. Ideal candidates are pursuing Civil/Environmental Engineering degrees, with interest in transportation

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related studies.
• Interest in transportation engineering, structural design, or related field.
• MicroStation experience preferred.

VHB’s Tampa, FL office is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2027.

Overview

VHB’s Tampa, FL office is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2027.

Responsibilities

• Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner
• Assist with engineering calculations, analysis, and report preparation
• Assist with completion of conceptual, preliminary, and final construction plans
• Assist with bridge scoping studies and alternatives analysis
• Perform quantity take-offs and calculations for construction estimates
• Perform field investigations and data collection for new and ongoing projects

Skills And Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with teammates
• Willingness to support different engineering disciplines
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• Good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related studies
• Interest in transportation engineering, structural design, or a related field
• MicroStation experience preferred

The hourly pay range for this position, located in Florida, is $19 to $30. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.
