Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. invites Civil Engineering undergraduates to join the Roads and Highways internship for Summer 2027.

You will perform independent engineering calculations, develop construction drawings, and assist with plans for freeway, highway, and local roadways, including ADA improvements and traffic signals. During the internship you will gain hands-on experience, mentoring, and exposure to multiple locations such as Portland and Salem, OR, with additional sites across the

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, with at least 2+ years of completed course work from an ABET accredited program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills including active listening.
• Willingness to ask questions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and design of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Support engineering calculations, plan preparation, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
• Develop and modify plans using Bentley OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and other design software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and review technical data.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and field observations.
• Gain hands-on experience through mentorship, training, and real-world engineering projects.
