Job summary

Bo hl er's Washington, DC office invites motivated Civil Engineering Interns (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain real-world experience in site design and land development. You’ll work with engineers, designers, and project managers on commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments, using AutoCAD Civil 3D to support design and permitting tasks.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred; training provided if not yet proficient.

Responsibilities

• Experience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Enhance technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept plans, grading plans, stormwater management plans, utility system plans, and soil erosion control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements.
