Job summary

Fehr Graham in Aurora, IL is seeking Civil Engineering interns for Summer 2027 to work on municipal and environmental projects and support field and office teams.

You will assist with construction observation, review plans, develop CAD skills, and learn how regulations shape design while gaining hands-on experience. This paid internship emphasizes growth, collaboration, and applying coursework to real projects across our Midwest offices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate, four-year degree in Civil Engineering.
• Familiar with or able to read blueprints.
• Able to work independently and within a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; team player.

Responsibilities

• Report to a Fehr Graham Project Manager on one or several projects.
• Assist with construction observation and quantity measurements.
• Potential exposure to surveying.
• Review and edit engineering plans to Fehr Graham standards.
• Office duties to sharpen CAD skills and assist with basic design computations.
• Learn how state and local regulations are incorporated into design in office and field.
• Collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists and others to support project goals.
• Develop leadership skills and autonomy.
