Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Austin, TX is seeking engineering students to join our office in 2027 for a hands-on internship in civil/environmental disciplines. This on-site opportunity offers practical exposure to real projects and a pathway to future employment.

You will work with senior engineers, learn AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, GIS, and related software, and contribute to project analyses and design deliverables while aligning with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical/Biosystems/Chemical/Agricultural Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Familiarity with civil engineering software is a plus.
Interest in learning and applying multiple software tools on real projects.

Responsibilities

Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects.
Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce client visions for the built environment.
Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
Interns will learn software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS.
