Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Austin, TX is seeking engineering students to join our office in 2027 for a hands-on internship in civil/environmental disciplines. This on-site opportunity offers practical exposure to real projects and a pathway to future employment.

You will work with senior engineers, learn AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, GIS, and related software, and contribute to project analyses and design deliverables while aligning with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical/Biosystems/Chemical/Agricultural Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Familiarity with civil engineering software is a plus.
• Interest in learning and applying multiple software tools on real projects.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce client visions for the built environment.
• Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Interns will learn software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Austin North, Texas (TX) office in 2027! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Interns will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
