Job summary

SmithGroup in Milwaukee invites talented civil engineering students to join a 12-week summer internship, working on integrated design teams across landscape, planning, and surveying disciplines.

You'll develop site design drawings with AutoCAD and Civil3D, perform basic design calculations, compile data, and participate in design meetings while gaining mentorship from experienced engineers in a flexible hybrid office environment.

Qualifications

• Sophomore standing or graduate status in an accredited civil engineering program.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on integrated design teams with landscape architecture, urban planning, and surveying.
• Develop site design drawings using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Perform preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Compile data and prepare design solutions.
• Assist in editing technical specifications.

Working with us, you will:

• Work on integrated design teams with landscape architecture, urban planning, and surveying.
• Develop site design drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

An ideal candidate has:

• Completed at least their sophomore year or have graduate standing in an accredited civil engineering program by the time of the internship.
• Some experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS and the Microsoft Office Suite.

SmithGroup promotes a healthy work/life balance for our staff, as well as hybrid work options that give interns the flexibility to work within our vibrant office culture or remotely, as needed. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $24.00 to $25.00 per hour, at the time of posting. You are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week. Our 12-week summer internships are held between May-August.
