Job summary

Suburban Consulting Engineers, Inc. in New Jersey is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to assist with project tasks under supervision from a Designer or Engineer.

You will perform AutoCAD-based base-mapping, utilities Mapping, site verification, and prepare construction sheets and traffic control plans, while coordinating permits and documentation. Work is in Flanders/Hackensack/Wall, NJ with standard business hours and occasional field work.

Qualifications

• A civil engineering intern should be in the process of obtaining a bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and local regulations is expected.

Responsibilities

• Base-mapping existing conditions within project scope in AutoCAD.
• Map all existing utilities for a given project.
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions.

$22 – $24/hr, based on graduation year

Brief Description

A civil engineering intern assists and receives supervision from an assigned Designer, Senior Designer, or Engineer with various project-related tasks, which may include:

• Base-mapping existing conditions within the limits of a given scope in AutoCAD.


• Mapping out all existing utilities for a given project.


• Site visits to verify existing conditions.


• Prepare and design construction plan sheets.


• Prepare traffic control plans for use in installation.


• Prepare permit applications/transmittal letters.

A civil engineering intern should have the knowledge of engineering standards, as well as state and local regulations. A civil engineering intern should be in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Schedule

Candidate can expect to work approximately 100% of their week in the Flanders, Hackensack, or Wall, NJ office. Company hours are Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm.

This position generally works standard business hours, Monday through Friday. However, occasional site visits, field work, or business-related events may be scheduled outside of normal working hours. Flexibility in schedule is required to meet business and client needs.
