Job summary

Health & Safety Advisor role on a major civil engineering project requires robust HSE experience, NEBOSH certification, and IOSH membership. You will support site teams, develop RAMS, deliver inductions, and lead safety improvements while travelling nationally.

The role offers long-term career opportunities with progression towards Chartered status and ongoing professional development, including car allowance or company vehicle, travel subsistence, and a strong pension package.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction health and safety, ideally including two to three years with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil engineering contractor.
• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate as a minimum, with a commitment to further qualifications.
• Technical or Certified membership of IOSH, with a commitment to progressing towards Chartered status.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and maintenance of Project Management Plans, Construction Phase Plans and HSE performance measures.
• Develop, review and approve RAMS, task briefings and Permit to Dig arrangements within your competence and delegated authority.
• Deliver site inductions and support toolbox talks, behavioural safety initiatives and safety briefings.
• Provide practical technical advice to help site teams plan, manage and monitor work safely.
• Review upcoming activities, identify risks and communicate appropriate control measures.
• Support incident response, notification and investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Promote compliance with HSE procedures through coaching, mentoring and workforce engagement.
• Carry out site inspections and audits, monitor trends and follow up improvement actions.
• Maintain accurate site records and prepare regular HSE progress reports.
• Attend client and project meetings, providing clear updates on HSE matters.
